Some commonly asked questions

Do you coach high school or college beach volleyball athletes?

Absolutely, we have several high school and collegiate beach volleyball athletes.  We are very excited to be part of the growing game of beach volleyball as a collegiate sport.  Contact us if you would like more information.

What are the class weather cancellation policies?

To register for classes, first email us to confirm which class you would like to register for so we can verify its availability. Then, have payment of $200 in using Venmo to @stevenijams.  All payments must be made prior to the start of class. We don’t accept payments the first day of class. CLASS MAKUP POLICIES - POST COVID-19: We won’t offer make up classes cancelled due to weather. If you’d like to makeup a class you've missed, First, it must be within the current 6 week session you registered for.  Second, you must be present to the class you'd like to make up in (similar or lower level only).  If there are less than 10 in that class, you will be allowed to makeup class. If the 10th shows up late, you will need to sit out.  First come, first serve basis.  To notify athletes of any cancellations, we will publicly update our Facebook and Instagram STORIES as simple way to reach all of our athletes for that day. There are no refunds or rollovers of payment to future classes under any circumstance.

How many students do you have per class?

We typically keep the number to 12-14 per class.

How much are private lessons?

We have several options.  Contact us for more info.  Private lesson packages must be utilized with 1 year of start date. For private lessons, we require a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancellations.

I have a son/daughter interested in learning volleyball.  How can I get him/her signed up?

For an introduction to the sport, we HIGHLY recommend to starting with private lessons.  We have highly trained instructors that coach our junior athletes.

Can I make up a class from previous sessions or for any future missed class?

No, unfortunately, make up classes must be made up within the 6 week session registered for in a class that has available space.

What is the average age of the athletes in classes?

Since our classes are level specific, we aren't concerned too much about age.  For really young athletes, we suggest private lessons to develop the proper skills.

Can I sign up for more than one class?

Absolutely! We strongly encourage training multiple days of the week for a more rapid improvement and to get twice as many touches on the ball.

How do I get some South Bay Volleyball gear or volleyballs?

We often have hats, t-shirts, beanies and volleyballs in stock and ready to ship.  Online store coming soon.  In the meantime, contact us for available gear.

I missed several classes due to injury, sickness, travel, kids etc..  Can I rollover my payment to next session?

Unfortunately, we do not allow students to rollover their payments or offer credits for any missed classes for any reason.

How do I get into the Advanced Training classes?

To be considered for our men's or women's advanced training classes, the athlete must have a current CBVA player rating or equivalent or have recent college/club experience.  Occasionally we make exceptions depending on the athlete but must get approval from an SBV Staff member.

Do you offer indoor volleyball lesssons?

ABSOLUTELY! Coach Ijams trains indoor athletes for all skill levels and positions at VIBE VOLLEYBALL LAB in El Segundo. Book Coach Ijams directly through them by contacting Vibe at (424) 277-0907
